Walt Disney World Expected to See Crowds This Labor Day Weekend

Walt Disney World Expected to See Crowds This Labor Day Weekend

Walt Disney World is expected to see large crowds this Labor Day weekend! According to the theme park reservation calendar for Walt Disney World, it is completely booked for all ticket types!

If you take a quick look at the resort reservation page for this weekend there are only five Walt Disney World resorts that have availability (Contemporary, Pop Century, Yacht Club, Saratoga Springs, and Caribbean Beach.) In fact, travel website Tripit is reporting that Florida is claiming the lion’s share this year of Labor Day flight reservations, with 12 percent of all plans including a destination in Florida. Orlando, FL is ranked third for US-origin roundtrip flight reservations made from Jan 1 – Jul 30, 2020, with a travel date between Sep 4 – 8, 2020!

Walt Disney World reported in their shareholders meeting that they are seeing less than expected crowds then planned when they reopened. It is rumored that they opened at 30% capacity (similar to Shanghai Disneyland) and have seen less than 20% to date.

After Labor Day Weekend, there is still theme park availability and Disney World realizes there will be sharp drop off of crowds and has shortened the theme park hours through November 21. With the COVID-19 pandemic, reduced airline travelers, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party being cancelled and Epcot International Food & Wine Festival working as a modified festival, it's no surprise that the fall looks to be less busy than normal.

We will keep you updated on the crowds this holiday weekend and going forward into the fall!
