Anaheim's Downtown Disney, which opened in 2001, will be making room for a brand new 700-room hotel this summer and several businesses will have to be demolished including ESPN Zone, AMC Theaters, Earl of Sandwich and Rainforest Cafe.
The businesses will close by June 30 and demolition will begin in early July. The closing of these businesses marks a turning point as the Disneyland resort will begin to focus on the out-of-town guests instead of the local guests. The following businesses will be closing:
ESPN Zone
AMC 12 Theatres
Earl of Sandwich
Rainforest Cafe
Alamo Rent-a-Car
Starbucks
Disney Vacation Club & Walt Disney Travel will be relocated
