Celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dog at Disney Parks Around the World


Shanghai Disney Resort: From January 22 - March 4, guests will be completely immersed in the Lunar New Year atmosphere throughout the Shanghai Disney Resort. Here are some of the experiences & offerings guests can expect:

  • Guests can take photos with Mickey Mouse and other character dressed in their Chinese New Year outfits and can even include some themed backgrounds

  • Pluto will be the official mascot of the Year of the Dog celebration while dressed in his “God of Fortune” costume

  • A daily drum ceremony in the Gardens of Imagination includingMickey, Minnie, and Pluto.

  • Mickey and friends will gather in Celebration Square for Shanghai Swing, a show featuring characters and dancers in vintage Shanghai costumes.

  • Guests can write down their new year wishes on special cards in the Garden of the Twelve Friends

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: Through March 4, guests can enjoy a Lunar New Year celebration at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, including:

  • Special character experiences with “God of Fortune” Goofy and Pluto

  • Colorful New Year’s decorations will decorate the park!

  • At night, Main Street, U.S.A. and the Plaza will be transformed into a special Night Market for Chinese New Year.

  • Exclusive merchandise and themed food offerings

Disneyland Resort: This year’s festival will run from January 26 - February 18 at Disney California Adventure, and features special Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine. Including:

  • Xiǎo Lóng Bāo: Pork Soup Dumplings with Black Vinegar and Ginger

  • Dàn Tǎ: Egg Tart Dessert

  • Wǔxiāng Huāshēng Táng: Five Spiced Peanut Brittle

  • Bǎixiāngguǒ Lǜchá: Passion Fruit Green Iced Tea with Lychee Popping Pearls (non-alcoholic)

  • Tsingtao Lager

  • Bánh chu’ng: Sticky Rice Cake with Pork (pictured above left)

  • Chạo tôm: Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer with Sweet and Sour Sauce

  • Zhūròu Bāo: Steamed Bao filled with Pork and served with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce

  • Xìngrén Qū Qí: Three Mini Almond Cookies

  • Cá rô phi chiên giòn: Whole Crispy Tilapia with Chili-Lime Vinaigrette served Family-Style with soup, vegetables, and rice

  • Japchae: Sweet Potato Noodles, Onions, Shiitake Mushrooms, Carrot, Spinach, Snow Peas, Broccolini, and Lightly Sautéed Tofu tossed with Sesame Oil and Sweet and Spicy Sauce topped with Toasted Sesame Seeds

  • Galbi: Short Ribs Marinated and Grilled Korean-Style and served with Steamed Rice and Kimchi

  • Phở Bò: Beef Noodle Soup with Seasoned Beef Stock, Thinly Sliced Tri-Tip and Rice Noodles and Classic Accompaniments of Onion, Jalapeño, Basil-Lime, and Hot Sauce
