Walt Disney World's Horticultural Team Surprises Seniors with Easter Lilies

Walt Disney World's Horticultural Team Surprise Seniors with Easter Lilies

Walt Disney World donated 200 Easter lilies to local seniors with their Meals on Wheels delivery to spread some magic during this unprecedented time.

Cast member, Michelle Giger Rohrmann, who manages the nursery where the Easter lilies were grown, and her fellow horticulture cast members realized that with Walt Disney World temporarily closed, the lilies, which were originally intended for springtime decorations at Walt Disney World theme parks, could still spread joy.

The flowers were presented to the Osceola Council on Aging and added to Meals on Wheels deliveries near Walt Disney World. Each Easter lily is now at home with local elderly residents who are practicing social distancing during this difficult time. The giving cast member, Michelle, said, “To me, the lily is really symbolic of springtime – after a long, hard winter, the first thing to pop up is a lily. It’s a good representation of how we’ll come out of this together. We’ll pull through this. Better days are on their way.”
