Universal Orlando's Reopening Plan Approved by Mayor Demings and Sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis


The Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has approved Universal Orlando's re-opening plans and has sent a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis for final approval.


Universal Orlando is asking for approval to open on June 1 - 2 to their team members NOT the public. On June 3-4, the resort will invite a small number of Annual Pass holders and other guests to test the new system. Universal Orlando is asking to officially open to the public on June 5.

Universal has presented a plan that will be in place to reopen safely including:

  • Mobile food ordering

  • Social distancing - back and front of the house

  • Mandatory face masks - if a guest arrives without one they will be required to wear a free disposable mask that will be provided

  • Guest temperature checks at parking or main entrance

  • Parking vehicles 1-2 spaces apart in garages

  • No valet

  • Closures of interactive play areas

  • No water/mist elements on attractions

  • Virtual lines/queuing

  • No single riders

  • Eliminations of post show meets and greets

  • No parades

  • Single use menus

  • Individual condiments

  • Pre-wrapped silverware

  • No buffet or self serve

  • Contactless payments


Walt Disney World is expected to submit their reopening plans for approval next week.
