With the announcement of the Lightning Lane paid service replacing FastPass+ and MaxPass, we also learned that you will be able to purchase access to Rise of the Resistance.
Beginning some time in the fall, guests can purchase Lightning Lane for high-demand individual attractions selections. Attractions include Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Radiator Springs Racers (Disneyland) & virtual queue rides. Schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+). Pricing for this option will vary by date, attraction and park and will be announced closer to launch.
Disney Parks, Experiences and Products chairman Josh D’Amaro, explains the purchase of Lightning Lane for high demand attractions:
Think about Rise of the Resistance as an example. It’s a highly demanded attraction. Guests show up in the morning and they try to get into the virtual queue. We get as many people on there as we can, but inevitably someone is disappointed. Now there’s another option on top of the virtual queue so if Rise of the Resistance is the reason you’re at Disneyland or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there may be an option for you to purchase Rise of the Resistance. So again: flexibility, optionality, better guest experience overall.
Scott Gustin also announced that Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, when it opens at EPCOT on Oct. 1, will open with a virtual queue system similar to Rise of the Resistance. Therefore, you may also be able to purchase Lightning Lane for the newest attraction at Walt Disney World in October.
Will you purchase Lightning Lane to get on high-demand attractions?
