The First-Ever 'Star Wars' Live-Action Series - The Mandalorian - is Coming to Disney+

At the D23 Expo yesterday, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni introduced The Mandalorian, the fist-ever Star Wars live-action series. Favreau and Filoni revealed how they came to work together on the the series when they were both working at the Skywalker Ranch. Filoni was working on Clone Wars and Favreau was working on Iron Man.

Favreau requested a sneak peek at the then-top-secret Star Wars animated series and Filoni was happy to share the new series, only if he could also enjoy a first look at Iron Man. From then on the two have made history and are about to make streaming history.

The producers were joined by the stars of the new series, Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Taika Waititi who plays the droi IG-11. The producers and stars premiered the teaser trailer for the first-ever Star Wars live-action series. Earlier in the day, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger also announced that new Disney Legend Ming-Na Wen will join the cast of the series, as well.

The story is "set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, The Mandalorian follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
